Tom Mitchell

Professional Background: Senior Windows Engineer & IT Security Consultant. Tom has worked in IT for over 17 years, starting off as a Junior Engineer he progressed through various roles, primarily at Blue Chip companies in the retail and legal sectors, including Technical Specialist, Helpdesk Manager, Project Manager and Architect. Tom has always had a strong focus around the creation of automated builds and application deployments using a variety of scripting languages & tools.

Along with Phil Long, Tom founded TechSolvers in 2010, with the concept of creating the IT company they both wanted to work for, a company where customer service is the key focus. As the Managing Director at TechSolvers this background allows Tom to understand not just the business issues, but also the technical issues his clients face, and with this understanding he is able to advise clients at board level on how IT can work to improve their businesses.

Education: Leeds University – Politics

Hobbies/Interests: When not working Tom likes nothing more than to be on the slopes with his children, or driving powerboats in the Med.

Bye, Tom!

Phil Long

Professional Background: Phil has worked in IT for 20 Years. Starting work as a 1st line helpdesk engineer and progressing through various roles, including Senior Windows/Network Engineer, Enterprise Architect & Project Manager. The changing nature of IT has meant that in the last 5 years Phil’s focus has moved away from traditional on premise solutions, towards SaaS and IaaS based cloud Solutions, along with the design of strong management and monitoring procedures to support all technologies deployed.

Along with Tom Mitchell, Phil founded TechSolvers in 2010, with the concept of creating the IT company that they both wanted to work for, a company where customer service is the key focus. As the Technical Director Phil remains in a highly technical role, supporting the team across issues, as well as designing or ratifying all major infrastructure projects.

Phil is also an active member of the AVG Partner Advisory Council. This partnership allows Phil to help steer AVG in their development of their managed service toolset based upon the learnings TechSolvers gain from our adoption of AVG products. This is a symbiotic relationship that means that TechSolvers benefit from direct access to the AVG development teams, and AVG receive valuable feedback on their products.

Education: Open University – Computing and Information Technology

Hobbies/Interests: Phil is a dedicated family man, who enjoys playing guitar, singing and the odd round of poorly practiced golf.

Bye, Phil!

Billy Jeffs

Professional Background: Billy began his career in IT in 2009, completely self-taught he was appointed as IT Technician for a large school, and was soon taking on responsibilities for bulk installations, designing builds & implementing upgrades for the entire infrastructure all as a one man team. After a few years Billy decided that he wanted to move into the more corporate side of IT and gained his role at TechSolvers as Junior Support Engineer. Over the last 5 years Billy has grown within the company and after moving through various roles, he is now the Helpdesk Team Leader and is responsible for overseeing both the 1st and 2nd line teams day to day while ensuring that our ticket queues are managed in the best way possible.

Education: The Marlborough Science Academy

Hobbies/Interests: Billy enjoys a number of hobbies. He is an accomplished darts player, playing in multiple premiership leagues in the county. He is also involved with the UK Cube Association organising Rubik’s Cube competitions UK wide. Why I like working at TechSolvers: Since starting with TechSolvers I’ve gained more experience and knowledge than I could ever have imagined. The team is very close and everyone is always willing to share skills and knowledge whenever there is a chance, which means that we all learn more and more every day.

Bye, Billy!
